Zagorje is not a major industrial center and the unemployment rate is around 10 percent. This region is well connected with other parts of Croatia and its geographic position on the border of the European Union provides additional benefits (it borders Slovenia, is close to Hungary and has access to the Adriatic Sea via Rijeka).
The textile industry has been traditionally associated with the region, which results in large capacities of qualified labor.
Pregrada is situated in Krapina-Zagorje County, in North Croatia. Thanks to its close proximity to the EU – it borders Slovenia and is close to Hungary – the area has large development potential.
Today the most developed industrial capacities in the Pregrada region are in the textile and clothing industry as well as glass and plastic product manufacturing.
